I had hoped to get pictures of a sea of pink pussy hats, either on the very full buses or at the event itself, but it was so rainy out that while people had their cat hats on, they also had their rain coats and umbrella on. The good news is it has made for some very colorful pictures. The thing that most impressed me was the energy of this group. People were clearly energized, but not to the point of violence. People seemed to be patient with one another today, and I noticed some folks even made new friends. There were quite a lot of men in the crowd in addition to the many women and children. I'd say it was on the festive side. I had hoped to capture some of my friends and acquaintances here, but the crowd was so huge that I don't recall seeing a single one of them. Still, some pretty decent pictures here given the very crowded circumstances and my arthritic foot. (God, am I really old enough to be complaining about my arthritis?) I returned home soggy and chilled to the core, but still happy I was able to attend and to document as much of this event as I was able. I hope you enjoy the slide show.

Eleven degrees early on a January morning in a frozen Portland.
This is the view from my bedroom window. Someday I will learn how to better photograph the moon, but I did rather like the sky this time around. It's been so long since we've had a real, old-fashioned winter here in Portland, that I do believe we have forgotten how.
