One of those times I used my cellphone camera with not bad results!
This picture was taken on a walk along the East Side Esplanade along the Willamette River one lovely evening recently.

An outdated telephone, part of an apartment
State of the art in it's day You can buzz people in the front door Or tell them to get lost An Indian Elephant Totem like, dangling a bell Watches from the sideline A bridge peeking through fog Perhaps at night hovers above A whole world on a wall
Just a quick snap with my camera phone today on campus. This would have come out better with my Pentax, but a person has to work with the resources at hand, yes? This couple drew my attention. At this time of the term, the atmosphere can be somewhat frantic and stress filled. And here was this couple, looking so relaxed and comfortable, simply enjoying a bench on a grey spring May morning. Their calm helped to set the mood for my day.
This grey weather makes me dreamy, much like the little statue in my garden. Apparently she is Hindu today, with the spot on her forehead. (She does have a mind of her own.) I found her at a garage sale for $2 a few summers ago, and now she is a presence in my garden, my own garden spirit.
Sometimes your own backyard will provide all sorts of inspiration. This gazing ball, planted firmly in a bed that has some spent hyacinths I have yet to pull out of the ground, provided a spontaneous self-portrait. That wasn't exactly my intent with this picture, but what the heck, the best pictures aren't what you intend anyhow. It's appropriate because those spent, unpulled hyacinths represent how I am feeling right now, at the end of the term with so much yet to do. If I keep pecking away at it, a bit at a time, I will get it all caught up. I always do. I sometimes wonder what would happen if I didn't.
An afternoon at the Starlight Knitting Society
I had been thinking for some time that I should get some pictures of the vacant lot I pass on my way to and from work. It is filling up with more and more flowers every year - I do believe this one was likely planted on purpose. This doesn't make it any less lovely.
