Despite all the trash talk our current Republican leadership does about immigrants, becoming a citizen of the United States is still a thing. I had the pleasure of attending a citizenship ceremony for my daughter's partner last week. It was pretty cool to see so many people from so many parts of the world together in one room for the purpose of being sworn in as U.S. Citizens. I thought the local office did a marvelous job of welcoming the new citizens, and of educating them of their right to vote, including providing voter registration forms. There were people from 35 different countries, I believe the immigration officer stated. I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos - I was working unexpectedly with my camera phone, which is honestly a crap camera. Still, not too bad! Taking the oath - to defend the U.S.A. if the need arises, and to participate in our system of government. People from everywhere...... it did my heart good to see this, especially given the rhetoric by our current executive leadership. Noah, very rightly looking proud. Welcome, Citizen Noah! Flags everywhere. Very patriotic moment (as it should be.)

What a meaningful experience. Where does one find out when swearing in ceremonies are scheduled?

I wish I knew! We found out when Noah got his notification. I imagine there must be information on the Immigration and Customs website?
